TWU guide to the 2025 election

There’s a lot at stake this election.

TWU members have won significant new rights over the past three years under the Albanese government.

We need to keep up the momentum.

We’re just getting started using new TWU-won laws to improve transport workers’ pay and conditions. We’ve made world-leading reforms in road transport and aviation, and with today’s cost of living pressures, these reforms are more important than ever.

What we’ve won:

World-leading transport reform

Rights for gig workers

Same Job Same Pay laws which will soon see Jetstar cabin crew receiving up to $8000 pay increases per year

Cleanaway win under new bargaining laws

These are in addition to:

  • Record Award increases
  • Fair Work Commission pro-worker appointments
  • Rights for delegates and casuals
  • Wage theft now a criminal offence
  • Real wage growth after a decade of stagnation under the Coalition

Peter Dutton has already threatened to take away many of these rights.

We need to protect these wins so we can keep up the momentum—we can’t risk having them ripped up by a Dutton government.

This government has consistently stood by working people.

They stood by illegally outsourced Qantas workers and supported the TWU's court case, as well as passing Same Job Same Pay laws to stop it happening again.

They listened to transport industry delegations and passed lifesaving reform.

They stood by gig workers fighting for decent rights.

They supported aviation workers during the toughest time in the sector's history, while the Coalition cheered on Qantas and left Virgin and dnata workers to languish.

This election, vote to protect TWU wins.

There’s still much more to do—don’t risk Dutton taking workers backwards.
