Workers unfairly pushed into part-time JobKeeper category

The JobKeeper wage subsidy has been extended to March 2021. But from September onwards, the scheme will be paid at a reduced rate of $1200 a fortnight for those working 20 hours or more, and only $750 a fortnight for part-time workers or casuals working less than 20 hours a week. In January the payments will be cut back to $1000 a fortnight and $650 for part-time workers.

Which category a worker belongs to is being allocated based on hours worked during February 2020. However, this is not a clear picture and fails to take into account leave including sick leave and changes to rosters which were already affected by the pandemic.

If you believe you have been wrongly categorised as a part-time worker, working less than 20 hours a week, add your name to the form on this page.

Tell politicians that this isn’t fair

At the moment, guidance provided by the government merely states that the FWC can look at disputes over hours. However this is an unnecessary and lengthy process for workers already going through a stressful time. Contact the below politicians to tell them this isn’t fair.
