TWU state branches are fighting for better protections for bus drivers suffering frequent violent attacks. Recently the SA/NT branch helped launch a partnership between Torrens Transit and Crime Stoppers to combat the rise of anti-social behaviour on Adelaide buses.
Crime Stoppers has received a cash boost of $800,000 to expand its operations across South Australia, including measures to combat abuse against drivers and passengers across the Adelaide Bus Network.
This partnership will see Crime Stoppers contact information and logos across buses with passengers encouraged to report any anti-social behavior they witness.
This is a positive small step and we know much more needs to be done.
