Transdev have sensationally sacked a bus driver who stood up to violent youth criminals who assaulted and robbed a member of the public on the 18th of February.
The driver, who is being hailed as a hero, bravely intervened in the violent assault and protected their passenger.
The driver was subsequently stood down and later had their employment terminated for “misconduct”.
TWU Queensland Director of Organising, Josh Millroy, has slammed Transdev for their handling of the incident and has called for the driver to be reinstated.
“This is a low act from a company that’s lost touch with the community” said Millroy.
“This driver should be praised for standing up to violent thugs and protecting their passengers, not punished for having the bravery to act”.
“The police have in fact praised the driver for stopping what could have been an incredibly serious and violent assault, resulting in Grievous Bodily Harm or worse”.
“Transdev need to make things right, admit their mistake, and reinstate and apologise to their loyal staff member”.
“In what world should a driver be sacked for protecting their passengers against violent youth criminals?”
