Ian Smith, National President & SA/NT Branch Secretary

Ian has been a passionate and active member of the TWU since 1994. After spending 10 years as a delegate at TNT, he started working as a Union Official in 2008. Recognised by his peers as an absolute ‘work-horse’, Ian looked after a range of industries including waste and majors, and was an active organiser in the North Country area. In 2010 Ian was elected as the Assistant Secretary of the TWU SA/NT Branch. Throughout this time, Ian has fought tirelessly for better pay and conditions for all transport workers. He is a proud rank and file member and believes that rank and file membership should be in control at all levels of the Union. Ian has been the TWU SA/NT Branch Secretary since 2017.
